VirtualDJ build 8093: legacy .m3u playlists, 2023 virtual folders, and a history backup fix

Released 9 April 2024. The first big round of fixes for VirtualDJ 2024.

What changed

  • New setting, browserShowLegacyM3UPlaylists: keep using .m3u playlists if you need to.
  • Virtual folders from VirtualDJ 2023 keep their “no duplicates” setting.
  • Fixes importing the order and colours of sub-folders of special folders.
  • Fixes the database backup not backing up your history.
  • CloudDrive: pause sync, drag folders to download them, and two-way sync now asks before deleting any file or folder.
  • Fixes corrupted cue points set by Mixed In Key, and adds Opus tag reading.
  • Fixes for Phase drift, a Mac video-codec crash and recording on Windows, and faster BPM analysis on Apple Silicon.

For your library

A lot here. The .m3u setting confirms that 2024 stores playlists differently by default, and that the classic files are still available. The “no duplicates” and sub-folder fixes are about bringing your VirtualDJ 2023 library across cleanly.

And if you upgraded to 2024 early: VirtualDJ’s own database backup wasn’t including your history until this build. Backups made before 8093 may not hold it. VDJTools makes its own backup before every repair, so a repair run never relied on that one.

VDJTools works with VirtualDJ 2023’s library formats today. We’re working through what 2024’s changes mean, build by build, and this series is part of that.
