History Repair

< 1 min read

History Repair fixes broken track references inside your VirtualDJ play history.

When to use it #

Use it when past play history points to tracks that no longer resolve, usually after a move or rename.

What it repairs #

Missing track paths inside history files.

Key arguments #

  • /repair:history
  • /stage:export, /stage:autofix, /stage:validate, /stage:import
  • /year:<year>

Example commands #

vdjtools /repair:history /stage:export
vdjtools /repair:history /stage:validate

Typical workflow #

Export history issues, review the workbook, validate, then import.

Safety notes #

History usually benefits from a database-first repair, since validated database fixes can then be carried outward by CrossRef instead of fixed twice.

Limitations #

Older libraries can produce large history batches. Consider working in manageable rounds rather than one huge pass — see Managing Large Repair Batches.

Common scenario #

The current library works fine, but old session history still shows a large number of missing references from before a reorganisation.
